(Photo courtesy of Rochester Honkers) The roller coaster ride for the Border Cats continued Sunday afternoon as they lost their fifth straight game 7-4 to the Honkers in Rochester. The Cats have had winning streaks of eight games and four games as well as losking skids of seven games and five games in the second half. The Cats again fell behind early as the Honkers scored four times in the first inning. Thunder Bay's record dropped to 13-16 and the Cats now trail the first place Willmar Stingers by 5 1/2 games in the North Division standings with six games remaining. James Buckelew (Belmont) took the loss to slip to 3-4 on the season. The lefthander surrendered nine hits and seven runs (five earned), over 6 1/3 innings. Buckelew walked five and struck out three. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State), Andrew Ayers (Sacramento State), Philip Lyons (Nicholls State), and Matt Busch (Bucknell) all collected two hits. The Cats recorded 11 hits, all singles in the loss. Thunder Bay closes out its five game road trip Monday night in Rochester at 8:05 p.m. ET. Garrett Hughes (Stanford) will make his seventh start on the mound for the Cats. The big lefty is 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA. |
