(Photo courtesy of Mankato MoonDogs) - The Border Cats suffered another one run loss, falling 5-4 to the MoonDogs Friday night in Mankato. The Border Cats dropped their second straight game to open the second half of the season as they lost by the same 5-4 score to Mankato on Friday night. The Cats tied the game 4-4 with a pair of runs in the top of the 7th inning, but the MoonDogs pushed across the winning run in the last of the 8th. Chad Ritchie (Georgetown College) took the loss in relief to fall to 2-2. James Buckelew started for Thunder bay and lasted four innings. The lefthander allowed five hits and four runs (three earned), with three walks and one strikeout. James Bonds (College of the Canyons), Payden Cawley Lamb (Gonzaga), Philip Lyons (Nicholls State) and Adam Landecker (USC) all had two hits in the loss. Scott Donley (Indiana) homered for the second straight night, giving him four on the season. The Cats return home tonight to open a three game series against the Alexandria Beetles at 6:05 p.m. at Subway Field. Blake Fonfara (Lipscomb University) will get the start on the mound. The southpaw is 3-1 in seven games with a 3.31 ERA. |
