The Border Cats dropped the rubber game of their three game series with Alexandria losing 7-2 to the Beetles Monday night before 896 fans at Subway Field. Matt Beaty and Robert Case hit back-to-back home runs in the 2nd inning to put Alexandria ahead 3-1. The Beetles then broke open a 4-2 game with a three-run 8th inning as Thunder Bay's second half record fell to 1-4. Danny Bethea (St. John's) drove in both Cats runs with a 1st inning single and a 6th inning double. Adam Landecker (USC) scored both Thunder Bay runs. Kacy Kemmer (Austin Peay State) took the loss to drop to 1-3. Kemmer pitched six innings and gave up seven hits, one walk, and four runs. The Cats now embark on a six game road trip as they open a five game series tonight in Iowa against the Waterloo Bucks. Matt Cooper (Bellevue College) will get the start in the opener at 7:35 p.m. ET. The righthander is 0-0 in five games with a 4.80 ERA.
