2012-07-11 - CATS BEAT BUCKS

The Border Cats picked up their second straight win of a crucial six game road trip with a 7-3 victory over the Waterloo Bucks Wednesday night at Riverfront Stadium.  The Cats broke open a 4-3 game with a three-run 8th inning as they improved their second half record to 3-4.  Danny Bethea (St. John's) got Thunder Bay on the board with a two-run double in the 3rd inning.  Scott Donley (Indiana) went 2-5 and added a two-run home run in the 5th inning, his fifth round tripper of the season.  Payden Cawley Lamb (Gonzaga) went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored while Tuesday's hero, centre-fielder Omar Cotto (USC), had a 2-5 night at the plate with a double and a run scored.  Dan Ludwig (Belmont) pitched seven strong innings to up his record to 3-2.  The lefthander allowed eight hits and three runs with one walk and six strikeouts.  Chad Richie (Georgetown College) and Mitch McQueen (Washington State) both pitched a scoreless inning in relief to nail down the win.  The Cats and Bucks continue their five game series tonight at 7:35 p.m. ET.  James Buckelew (Belmont) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay.  The southpaw has appeared in six games and is 0-2 with a 8.27 ERA.
