2012-07-12 - CATS BLAST BUCKS

(Photo courtesy of James Mirabelli) - The Border Cats had plenty of reasons to celebrate Thursday night in Waterloo with a 15-1 romp over the Bucks.

The Border Cats are enjoying their time in Waterloo as they blasted the Bucks 15-1 Thursday night for their third straight win in Iowa.  The Cats scored four runs in each of the first two innings for an early 8-0 lead as they evened their second half record at 4-4.  Adam Landecker (USC) had a historic night at the plate for the Cats.  The infielder was a home run short of hitting for the cycle as he went a perfect 6-6 with three doubles, a triple, and five runs batted in.  Landecker set a franchise record with six hits and tied a team record with five RBI's in one game.  Scott Donley (Indiana) went 3-6 including his team leading sixth home run of the season.  The designated hitter drove in two runs and scored four times.  Philip Lyons (Nicholls State) had two doubles and knocked in three runs and Danny Bethea (St. John's) added two hits with an RBI and a run scored.  The Cats banged out 14 hits and have scored 32 runs in the first three games of the five game series.  James Buckelew (Belmont) pitched seven innings for the win to up his record to 1-2.  The lefthander allowed just one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  The Cats and Bucks square off again tonight at 7:35 p.m. ET.  Blake Fonfara (Lipscomb University) will get the start for Thunder Bay.  The southpaw is 3-1 in eight games with a 3.26 ERA.
